If you go here, http://www.gr2.net/artshow.php# and you love me, you can buy me a sweet James Kochalka painting for the scant price of sixty dollars.
I'm just sayin'.
Buy me these:

Ghost Balls
The screensaver function randomly started up on my laptop.
I didn't set it to do that. It's never done that before.
When I walk into the room, planets appear on the screen.
Isn't that weird?
I don't think I have any control over technology. PhotoBooth randomly craps out and eventually starts working again with no apparent catalyst, and everything else seems really unreliable as well.
Also, Lil Wayne is far too vulgar to be so damn catchy.
I can't keep humming lines under my breath like:
"I can make a black woman scream like she white
or
Pimp hard, I get head and tail like a quarter"
Finals are gradually starting to kick my ass, but I still feel confident that everything is under control.
If you want to meet my way cool parents, they're coming to visit this Friday.

Blood Weekend
First, Allegra severely sliced her pinky open on a broken mirror.
I helped her change the dressing in my bathroom.
Yesterday, Max noticeably cut himself shaving.
His neck is speckled with red.
A few minutes ago I was sharpening a knife, which of course slipped and sliced my thumb open directly below the bottom of the nail.
Obnoxious (but not too serious) bleeding.
These things come in threes.
Taking one for the team.

What a fantastic day!
I got up and showered an hour earlier than I intended to, so I climbed back into bed and listened to the Kinks before the Titus Kaphar lecture (which was amazing.) He rejected the common talking head-style lecture format and instead opted for a discussion based panel format that was very casual and intimate. What a great guy. He was full of really great quotes, too:
"Every five years or so people claim that painting is dead. If painting is dead, then I've got to be the guy to do the autopsy."
So he and his work were wonderful. After Ideation, I went to the Electric Fetus with Maddie and Amalia and bought the NEW BREEDERS ALBUM, MOUNTAIN BATTLES. It's more explorative genre-wise than other Breeders albums, but retains all the rockin' weirdness that I adore. It's superb.
Then there was the Peter Hutton screening at 6:30. His new film is 60 minutes of silent imagery of container ships being built, traveling, and being dismantled by hand. His shots looked like Edward Burtynsky photographs come to life. It was one of the most beautiful things I've seen in a long while.
Also, it's Diana's birthday and we went to Jasmine 26 with four tables' worth of people. Lemongrass chicken, coconut cream cheese puffs, free pan-fried tofu and sweet potato with condensed milk for dessert.
I love my life.
...yours, too.

Phuuuuuuuck!
Maaan.
The Boredoms are coming on the 25th, and I leave on the damn 23rd.
Fuck me.
They're one band I've always wanted to see, and I've been totally psyched about this upcoming show.
Also, I thought they were coming on the 16th.
Wrong.
Ugh. This sucks.
...
But, the NEW BREEDERS ALBUM IS COMING OUT IN APRIL.
NEW BREEDERS ALBUM!
It's called Mountain Battles, and it haunts my sleep.
I sincerely recommend that you listen to the new single, "Bang On" here:
http://breedersdigest.net/2008/
I can't handle it.
The Breeders have been one of my most favorite bands for many years and their output is so sporadic that any trace of activity sends me into a frenzy. This is overload. I'm getting panicky/anxious over this new album.
And they're touring! Hugely!
I think i might have to travel if I'm going to catch them because they're in my old home when i'm in my current home, and later, vice versa. I don't mind.
They were my first real concert, and I'll love them forever.
Also, look how vaguely Joel-Peter Witkin-esque this photo is:

Witness.
Hi.
Late last night Max and I were watching tv when we heard a loud screeching sound outside our window fading into our perception, followed by a very audible crunch. Then the car immediately pulled back, switched gears and sped off down 26th.
We stepped outside to check out the damage with our recently roused neighbors.
The One Way sign on the corner is severely bent inward toward our building.
Then we heard sirens.
At first only a couple of squad cars were on the trail, but soon more and more zoomed along the breadcrumb trail of flashing lights.
I think we counted ten?
What could this guy have done?
He must have committed some sort of felony for that sort of police attention.
If he had hit the fire hydrant next to the sign, our sidewalk would be a skating rink.
If he had gone further, our building would have a car in it.
The skid marks are still in the street.
It's strange to be a part of the physical history of a location.
That sign will be bent for years.

What am I doing with my life?
Soo...in China's Wolong Nature Reserve, for a mere $130 per person, you can enter the panda day care center which is currently home to 16 baby panda babies, and play with them. With the baby pandas. Apparently you only get five minutes, but they are baby pandas. The best things ever.
How can I become a panda farmer?

Fair Fields Magnetic Game
I know I'm sad and creepy for my Stephin Merritt obsession, but I don't care.
He was just on Fair Game and played two songs from Distortion.
http://stream.publicbroadcasting.net/production/mp3/fairgame/local-fairgame-680335.mp3
Amazing.
Faith: What do you think of musicals like Momma Mia? Where Broadway takes those songs and turns them into fun family affairs?
Stephin: Um, I am sworn never to discuss Momma Mia.
Faith: (Laughs) Um, To whom did you swear that? Your Gods of Music?
Stephin: I've sworn it again and again. I, uh, formerly only swear to Ganesh.
Faith: Oh, are you Hindu?
Stephin: No.
Faith: Is he the elephant one?
Stephin: Yes...he's the cute one.
Faith: (Laughs) He's the cute one?
Stephin: Yes, I like Ganesh because he's the cute one.
My obsession is justified.

Oculomotor Cues
My eye itches.
Someone please suck it out of its socket.
I'm looking at you, Hoover.
J. Edgar, you dog.
I've been in this obstructive cloud for the past week+/-
I can't get anything done and everything makes me sigh.
But I watched the Forbidden Zone today, and am now fulfilling the prophecy of the clerk from Nicollet Village Video.
You read it here first.

How can I post MP3s on here?
Is there a way?
I've been recording a lot and MySpace is lame.

TVC15
Jeez.
I'm obsessed with Pawn America commercials.
You know the ones with the weird bearish guy whose head pops up when the session singers reach the zenith of
"PAWN AH-MER-IH-CA!" in the theme song?
It's so good.
The new Valentine's Day commercial has his head centered in a heart outline while he rattles off their deals on jewelry.
"I heart Heart Day!" He says.
Twice.
It's surreal. Minneapolis has such a strange and charming array of local advertisements. I love the low-budget homemade ones you see for World of Wireless with the non-actors explaining their phone woes. Everything is so cute and really reflects the friendly and welcoming attitude that I associate with Minneapolis.
My alltime favorites, by far, are the commercials for Erik's Bike Shop.
The music is ridiculous. I want to eat it.
